Sprogbread

Sprogs all made bread -- each of them had a cup of water in a bowl, added yeast, and flour and salt and mixed and kneaded, and with a little help, shaped --- we're letting it rise one more time, and will bake it in a little while. They were fantastic!

Yours, rising,
N.

There is something very satisfying about making bread :)

Michele sent me to say hi.

You're inspiring me to pull out our bread machine and make some with the munchkins. We need activities to fill the quiet times until mom returns from taking care of her mother.

Nothing says home like the amazing smell of bread.

Michele says so. That's why she sent me here to read yet another delightful observation of life.

I don't make bread often, but fortunately, I have a breadmaker. Our 22 year old son.

Carmi: when I teach breadmaking classes, I always tell the students that the bread machines do a wonderful job of kneading the bread, but that I think it is so much more satisfying to shape the bread and bake it in the oven after the machine has done the hard work --- and you have so much more variety of loaves available to you that way!

Oh, I have wonderful fresh baked bread all of the time, of course it is bakery that makes it wonderful, but, I am the one who goes to the bakery very early in the morning. So yes, I take some credit for the fresh part.

Yes, I know that his is NOT what you are talking about. Please humour me.

Michele sent me. Yes, in a third person kind of way.

Michele: if we had had a decent bakery here in our little town when we moved her ten years ago, I would never have learned to make bread! But our little town doesn't have a decent bakery, nor do the local supermarkets sell anything with real substance. And so, dozens of bread books, several heavy duty mixers and thousands of pounds of flour later, I'm still making bread. Only it's a little better now than then!
