Some photos from May last year: our beach trip

Strange and wonderful things on the beach

Dolphins frolicking at a distance

and a little closer in

and sunsets like you wouldn't believe

All in all, a wonderful time was had by all of us: I am hoping for an even better trip this year! A whole week! Can you believe it???

Yours, with happy photographic memories,
N.

Beautiful photos! I remember the first time I saw an egg case on the beach; I thought it was an alien creature!

Thanks for the compliment. You are aware of the statement "The show must go on"? Well, in the wedding flower business, it doesn't matter how sick you are. If you can walk - you can deliver flowers! I took a shower and some immodium, and I finished and delivered all the flowers and took those photos. Then I came home, collapsed in the bed and slept six solid hours!

I once delivered flowers in Feb., and tied decor on the stair railings outside in a snowstorm, wih a windchill of 17* below zero and my own temperature was 102*. Such is my dedication!

Ouch! That's a nasty temperature contrast!
Yup, those egg cases are spectacularly alien looking, aren't they!

How gorgeous!! I've never seen an "egg case" before now! What kind of creature leaves them behind??

Thanks for sharing!

I like the photographs, especially the sunsets! I had wondered if that picture was of some kind of egg case - now I know that they are! What kind of creature hatched from that though?

And lucky you for being able to see dolphins so closely - we rarely see them over here. I bet you can't wait for your holiday!

Shannon: they weren't sea lions, unfortunately (I love seeing those too) --- just all dolphins. What a sacrifice:-)

Stephanie and RT: the egg case is, I believe, from some sort of whelk (perhaps a lightning whelk? not sure).

The sunsets were great in May, but to see them we had to go round the bottom of the island --- to the expensive part! --- where one could look West: this time we'll be staying about a km along the beach from where it turns westward, and will be able easily to walk to see the sunset, I hope:-)

That first picture looks like a fantastical catepillar! I love the ocean, there's something magical about seeing dolphins in the wild! The one and only place I've seen that is VA Beach in the off season. Have a great vacation!
