I made marinated shrimp this evening for supper, together with a lettuce salad with a marinated mushroom, artichoke hearts, peppers and nuts salad to go with it. Absolutely delicious --- except to Boo and Skibo.
They usually like shrimp: LOML's assessment was that it was because I marinated them: probably, this is the case, but it still didn't make me happy.
On the other hand, they both chose to eat large quantities of my wholewheat bread, downing it with great gusto, and it is full of good things like oatmeal, so I don't mind so much that they won't yet eat grown up food.
Yours, just minding a little,
N.

I will take ALL those recipes!! It sounds like you had a delicious dinner!!!
The recipes are really easy:
the shrimp: marinate in a little soy, sesame oil, peanut oil, garlic and ginger. Saute in a very hot pan with a little oil in for a couple of minutes a side until they are pink.
For the salad: quarter some small mushrooms (white, baby bellas), small artichoke hearts, coarsely chop some good olives (eg kalamata with the pits removed), roasted red peppers, and hot banana peppers. Combine with a balsamic vinegar dressing. At the last minute add some toasted walnuts and sunflower seads. Season with salt and pepper if necessary. Serve on lettuce, with grape tomatoes for a burst of flavour!

The shrimp sounds yummy!! Here via Michele!
Hi, Michele sent me!
I have to say I'm with Boo and Skibo - I like my shrimp naked.
You've got my mouth watering thinking about fresh whole wheat bread.
Wow, kids are so fickle..... :-))
But your bread definitely seems to be a winner.
Michele sent me to say sleep well, N - catch you at the M&G on the flipside.

Forget the kids, whens dinner...Im there! Thanks for stopping by yesterday. Michele sent me
Those shrimp sound delicious to me, yummy! At least they loved your bread which also sounds tasty :) I would clear my plate any day.
Michele sent me this time but I pop by anyway!
I am kind of hungry thinking about it!
Michele sent me here to ask for the recipe!
Never fight with children about food - they always win. It is much better to ignore them - the wind might be in a different direction next time you serve up and they will think it is delicious. If you make a big thing about it they remember that they don't like it and will still refuse to eat it when they are 17. You see...I'm speaking from experience here!
Alice C: actually, I am wise beyond my years, it seems, since I have come to that conclusion -- or at least, LOML and I are beaten down enough to just give in on food issues!
At the moment, we are happy if they eat enough to grow, and a reasonable balance of meat, vegetable, etc...

mmm, delicious
Michele sent my hungry self over
Michele sent me to check out your recipes - we're all shrimp & mushroom fans at my house (well-maybe not my 8 year old but he rarely eats anything other than Peanut butter & jelly & hot dogs) Only I would eat the artichokes though!
Hi N. If you pop over to my blog you will find I have been given the chance to make a little gesture to thank you for your recent kindness to me.
Hope it makes you happier :)
