Memories of first day of school

Various folks are propogating this meme, and now I've been sucked in too. I have only the invented memories that you get when your mother tells you stories over and over again: with the exception of the wrought iron fence, very tall surrounding the school. Of course, that fence was probably only 3 or 4 feet tall, but I was a little bit shorter then:-)

The supposed memories, which my mother swears are true are:
- wanting to play with my imaginary friends, the waggywahs
- being fearful of going into the school without my mother
-being asked how my first day was, and telling my mother that it was fine: and that I had sat next to a fat boy named Treasure. And from then on, Trevor's name was always Treasure.

Yours, imagining the memories,
N.

p.s. Anyone care to see if the can guess the etymology of my imaginary friends names?

That's ok, we got cards with pictures of the other students and their names so we could learn who the other kids were more quickly. I swore the kid's name was Brain, but mom told me it was Brian. Oops.

Michele sent me, have a great day.

Hi BB - here from Michele's. No clue re the etymology but re the iron railings - they all had to be melted down during WW2 to help make ammunitions. I always thought the pointed iron ones were very dangerous and occasionally children did impale themselves. On which cheerful
note I'll slink away.

I don't recall much of it. I remember I used to sit with a boy named Akhil.

Michele sent me here so that I refresh my memory reading your meme.

BTW, thanks foryour well-wishes. My friend is a little better now. Although she is still in the ICU.

My youngest son has crossed passed a milestone. He has entered his last first day of school. Next year there will be coeds, dorms rooms (hopefully) and professors. He is a senior in high school. Hallelujah

I don't have memories of my first day of school...maybe because they are so far away!!
Michele sent me your way this time. I feel like Mr A : our son will be a sophomore in college, I can see some freedom in the horizon!!

Mr A, Mar: those days are ahead for us, and since we had children rather later in life than some did, we are going to be *in need* of retirement by the time they get through college!

LOL.. For some reason I still remember the dress I wore on Valentine's Day to Kindergarten, and I remember our class rabbit. :)

Have no idea what you would have called your imaginary friends, although I bet it's good.

Thanks for visiting today!
