I am sorry - I hope that the happy memories make you smile when the sadness has passed.
I'm sorry to read this.... Losing a loved pet is more difficult than we ever imagine. I'm still reeling over having to give our puppy away and long to know how she is. I don't dare though because I'd not handle the scene well at all!
She was much loved, a sweet (mostly) cat. LOML had had her for more than 15 years, and she will be much missed, and much remembered.
