Why can't they sleep at night?

No, I don't mean politicians and insurance executives: this time, I'm referring the children. Two little ones who are "afraid" to go to sleep by themselves this evening. So I'm sitting in the dark typing by the light of the laptop screen, waiting for the breathing to settle so I can re-emerge into the light.

Yours, in the dark about this one,
N.

  1. I bought a USB-powered light for just such moments. Often, I find myself sitting on the floor by my son's bed, waiting for him to drift off. When he gets scared or lonely, he absolutely won't close his eyes on the pillow unless someone's nearby. I'll miss these moments when he's older, but my back won't :)

Next laptop will have to have a backlit keyboard.

Hi! Sorry that I've got comment moderation activated --- I had a few unpleasant comments which forwarded people to bad places automatically --- so now I like to check that comments are real before allowing them.
